Responsible for performing secretarial duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. A Medical Secretary schedules appointments, bills patients, and compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence. A person in this position also deals with information requests by telephone, mail, e-mail, or fax and greets visitors and guides them to appropriate staff. A Medical Secretary may also be called upon to transcribe recorded messages and practitioner's diagnoses and recommendations into patient medical records. |
